Home Depot partners with construction app

US company The Home Depot has joined forces with cloud-based project management software tool Buildertrend.

The partnership will enable construction professionals to secure products from The Home Depot within the Buildertrend platform and app, and applies to members of Home Depot’s Pro Xtra loyalty program for construction professionals.

The alliance was launched via an online product demonstration on 24 August, during which Andrew Wirick, VP of Product at Buildertrend, said the integration would enable construction professionals to complete more projects with reduced delays and fewer communication errors.

Wirick said Buildertrend had also introduced new features including a receipt managment tool, enabling users “to look at individual receipts, associate them with a job or vendor,” allowing them to “better track those expenses happening at The Home Depot, in Builder Trend, and keep track of your financial health on jobs.”

Builders upload receipts to their Buildertrend account and assign them a cost code or job. Up to 25 months of purchase history will be imported from the Pro Xtra account to Buildertrend and integrated into a builder’s cost catalog.

Pro Xtra members will be able use the joint platform to access savings and redeem offers.

Hector Padilla, executive vice president of Sales and Service for The Home Depot, said the partnership was timely, with construction professionals “busier than ever, many with months of backlogged jobs.”

“This new integrated platform with Buildertrend will help contractors manage their businesses more efficiently and profitably by giving them access to The Home Depot’s Pro pricing and other benefits.”

The Home Depot has been digitalising areas of its business in recent months, including the introduction of a ‘Rent Online, Pick-up In Store’ option for smaller items of equipment, through 1,300 rental locations across North America.

In recent years it has also upped its investment in its tool rental business.

The company operates 2,300 Home Depot retail stores in all 50 states of the US as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico. In fiscal 2020, it had sales of $132.1 billion and earnings of $12.9 billion.

Since 2006 Buildertrend has grown its customer base to 1 million users internationally.
