It was a Hyva HC361 E5 crane mounted on a 32 tonne Daf truck. The 36 tonne-metre-rated crane was painted green to meet defence sector requirements. It was specified with the Hyva LAS (Liftrod Articulating System) double linkage to smooth out the available capacity across the radius range. Maximum outreach was 14 metres with the five hydraulic extensions. Hetronic Multifunction radio control ws also specified.

Also featured were EES (Extra Extension Speed) using a regenerative valve in the hydraulics to maximise speed and SDS (Smooth Descent System) which compensates for boom oscillation to give smooth movement of the load.

“We believe that partnerships are an important way to grow our business. This exciting project is proof of that. It is a significant breakthrough in the Portuguese market, and we are convinced that there is more to come,” explained Pedro Gouveia, Hyva Portugal sales director. “We are very proud to be the Portuguese Air Force’s choice – as our sales team says after each sale, ‘Thanks for your confidence.’”
