15 April 2008

IRN regrets to report that Isidoro Lebrero (above), founder of Spanish construction equipment manufacturer Industrias Lebrero and also aerial platform manufacturer Matilsa, died on 15 November last year.

He was the driving force of the Lebrero company, which has manufactured a range of road building equipment, most notably vibratory rollers for compaction. Lebrero brought to world markets more than 50 different machines, and Mr Lebrero himself held many patents. Among other distinctions, he designed and built a roller that had the best ratio of compacting effectiveness to machine weight, winning international recognition.

After many years of success with the Lebrero company, Mr Lebrero branched out and founded Matilsa, also based in Zaragoza. Matilsa has been manufacturing aerial work platforms since 1995, and it also rents construction equipment from three locations across Spain. Matilsa is led today by five of Mr Lebrero's children.
