King Highway Products has won a £4 million contract to supply 95 new van mounted aerial platforms with hybrid electric operation to eircom, Ireland's telecommunications provider.

The UK manufacturer of heavy haulage and lowbed trailers is to supply a modified version of its SkyKing 125RA articulating work platforms, based on specifications provided by eircom. Changes include the attachment of reinforced plastic walk-in baskets.

The new platforms are to be fitted on Fiat Ducato 4.0 tonne vans and will join eircom's fleet working on the installation and maintenance of the telecoms network across Ireland.

The new order follows on from a 34-unit purchase from eircom in 2011, and brings the total value of King vehicles in the eircom fleet to £5.2 million.
