The Worcestershire-based company, which was established in 1952 and now operates across the UK mainland, added the DX17Z, DX27Z and DX63-3 models to allow it to undertake indoor demolition projects.

Tony Nicholls, senior contracts manager at Kings Heath Demolition, said: “With the new Doosan DX17Z, DX27Z and DX63-3, we are adding mini-excavators to our fleet for the first time.

“These machines meet the increasing demand in the market for indoor demolition and refurbishment work, involving work in confined spaces and basements.

“We are beginning to see an uptick in this type of project, including the conversion of existing multi-storey office buildings into new apartments in urban locations and the new Doosan mini-excavators are perfect for this type of work.”

Doosan’s DX17Z, DX27Z and DX63-3 mini excavators have operating weights of 1.7, 2.7 and 6.3 t respectively.

While the DX63-3 is fitted with a Tier 4/Stage 3A Yanmar engine, the other two models are equipped with Stage V compliant engines from Kubota.

The new machines, which were supplied by local dealer Murley Construction Equipment, are part of a larger equipment deal that also includes three of Doosan’s larger DX225LC-5 crawler excavators.

The 22.1 t model features a Stage IV compliant 6-cylinder Doosan engine and offers 166 hp and a bucket capacity of 1.49 cu m (52 cu ft).

The new excavators will be added to Kings’ existing demolition equipment fleet, which already includes Doosan’s DX140LC-5 and DX225LC-5.
