Klubb provides Paris fire crews with new platforms

An undisclosed number of Klubb’s 33m Meteor aerial platforms will be delivered to firefighting services in two Paris districts later this year.

France-based Klubb Group is to provide the fire and rescue services in two Paris counties with its new 33m aerial platforms.

The access equipment manufacturer, which provides specialist lifts to emergency services in countries such as Australia, Canada and Kenya - will provide the counties of Seine et Marne and Yvelines with a number of its Meteor firefighting truck mounts. 

Designed to enable disabled or injured people to be rescued “in complete safety”, the Meteor platforms are suitable for use in both urban and rural areas. 

In addition to a working height of 33m and an outreach of 35m, the units are also equipped with a 500kg capacity basket that can accommodate a stretcher.

“This platform is equipped to intervene in any type of fire with motorised cannon, rescue gangway, specific lighting, water curtain protection, etc,” said Klubb.

“Its crossing capacity is very high, in particular thanks to the telescopic jib, giving access to buildings from the opposite side, which is often essential in cities.”

While the number of platforms included in the deal has not been disclosed, the new machines will be used by the city’s emergency responders, who attend around 200,000 call-outs a year from across 110 fire stations.

Part of a three-year deal that will include the equipments’ servicing and maintenance, Klubb said the deal “illustrates the confidence the fire brigades of the Paris area have in the French Group’s know-how”.
