Kobelco launched its 110 tonne capacity CKE 1100 lattice boom crawler crane at the Bauma exhibition in Germany in the last week of April. It is described by the company as “fitting neatly between the existing CKE 900 and CKE 1350 models, and is intended to provide a highly versatile, highly competitive crane, with an exceptionally strong lift chart in the important 100 to 110 tonne class.”

The crane, which will be available from early 2008, has a maximum rated capacity of 110 tonnes at 3.6 m radius and a 15.2 to 70.1 m lattice boom. Other boom options include a range of fixed offset jib extensions, up to a maximum combination of 61 m main boom with 21.3 m jib, giving a maximum working radius of 55 m, and a maximum hook height of 72 m. The new crane also includes extendable and retractable crawlers, which are, “quite exceptional for a crane in the 100 tonne class,” according to Kobelco. Overall weight is about 99 tonnes and ground pressure is 92.9 kPa.
