A low level access platform that harnesses pedal power is now available in the UK.

The Mini-Mobi is a single piece folding aluminium work platform, featuring a patented pedal drive system. The 600 mm wide unit passes through standard interior doorways and folds down for transport in an estate car or small van.

The operatorpushes the 50 kg folded unit into position, erects it, carries out the job and can then uses pedal power from the platform to propel the wheeled tower to the next work station. It has a safe working load of 120 kg, sufficient for one man and their tools.

With a working height of more than 3 m and the ability to be operated by one person, it is suitable for low level access applications, where contractors are increasingly using platforms instead of stepladders and scaffold, said the company.

Jerry Hanss, managing director of Lift Safe, the UK distributor for Mini-Mobi, said: “Mini-Mobi provides the safety and productivity benefits of a low-level access platform without the complexity of electric motors or hydraulics.

“Unlike some podiums and scaffold, there is only one piece so there is no chance of bits going missing. Also, many two-person operations can be performed by one person with the Mini-Mobi.

Originally produced for the European aerospace industry, the platform height is adjustable from 460 mm to 1.2 m in increments of 150 mm. Standard safety features on the 600 x 600 mm model include guard rails, a self-closing gate and toe boards. Pull-out stabilisers and locking castors ensure the platform remains stable during use and there is also an operator-applied brake.
