On show in China

October sees the Beijing International Construction Machinery Exhibition & Seminar (BICES) exhibition return to the National Agricultural Exhibition Center, located on the western stretch of Beijing's third ring road. It will be the 9th show. The first was in 1989 and it runs on a two-year cycle.

The event is organised by the China Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. (CCMC) and CCPIT-MSC (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Machinery Sub-Council). This official support helps it attract visitors from a range of segments in and related to the construction industry. These include road construction, railways, maritime, airports, hydraulic engineering, power generation, urban construction, mining, oil & gas and environmental protection.

Development

The boom in the Chinese construction equipment market has seen BICES grow over the years. When it was last held in 2005 it covered a gross area of 101,000 m², with 653 exhibitors taking stands, and 6,259 visitors coming to the event from 53 countries.

This year the organisers expect the number of exhibitors to once again top the 600-mark, and they will come from 30 countries – a slight increase from the 26 countries represented at the 2005 event. In addition to individual company stands, there will be several national pavilions, including representatives from the UK, Germany, Spain, Japan, Korea, Finland, Brazil, Singapore and India.
