Platform Sales Europe grows sales offerings and staff

02 September 2008

Distributor and trading company Platform Sales Europe will offer the full range of scissor lift specialist Holland Lift in all 20 countries it operates, Arjan Roelse told AI. Platform Sales has ordered about 15 units from Holland Lift and will sell from its inventory.

"We want to be a supplier for rental businesses in all their access needs," said Mr Roelse. Platform Sales, based in The Netherlands, already represents US manufacturer MEC Aerial Platforms and the UK's UpRight Powered Access.

The company is also expanding its sales presence. Dirk Konings, who spent 22 years at equipment rental company Doornbos in The Netherlands, joined Platform Sales in July. Mr Roelse told AI that he has hired two other people in sales positions, but announcement of their names will wait until APEX later this month.

Mr Roelse also said that the company has €1.5 million worth of OEM spare parts now crossing the Atlantic, adding to the €1 million already on its shelves. "Spares is a good business, it opens doors, one thing leads to another. After sales is more important than the sales itself," he said. Mr Roelse also said the company will recruit dedicated spare parts salesmen beginning in October.

Platform Sales plans to hire a salesman in January 2009 for the line of aluminium tower products from Spanish manufacturer Alufase it has represented since November 2007. Mr Roelse said the products are "100% interchangeable" with UpRight's.
