Q Plant adds five Kobelco crawlers

Crane and plant rental company Q Crane & Plant Hire Ltd has ordered five new Kobelco crawler cranes. They are one CKE 1350-G2, two CKE 900-G2s and two CKE 1100-G2s.

With the latest order the Manchester-based company will have a total of 32 Kobelco cranes.

The CKE 1350-G2, which lifts 135 tonnes at 4.5 metre radius, will be supplied with a 61 m main boom, as will the 110 tonne capacity (at 3.6 m radius) CKE 1100-G2. The CKE 900-G, with a capacity of 100 tonnes at 3.6 m, or 90 tonnes at 3.9 m, will be supplied with 57.9 m main boom and an 18.3 m fixed fly jib.

All five cranes have the KCross remote operation management system designed to help maximise machine efficiency and uptime. They also have Stage IV/Tier 4 Final engines.

Commenting on his latest acquisition, Anthony Quinn, managing director at Q Crane & Plant Hire, said, “Regulations around emissions are becoming ever more important. We’ve seen a big push by clients who are looking to win work, particularly those working in urban environments and large-scale infrastructure projects like Crossrail, or Hinkley Point C, towards using the latest, cleanest machines. Having these new machines in our fleet should therefore give us an advantage when it comes to competing for these jobs.”

The company bought its first Kobelco crawler in 1999, said Quinn, and has been adding Kobelco cranes to its fleet ever since. “In any fleet what’s tried and tested will always find favour. Our engineers find the machines easy to work with and we know they are reliable. They are also easy to transport and assemble. What’s also excellent is the back-up we receive from Mark and the service engineers in the UK.”
