Recycling investment

The municipality of Xi'an in Shaanxi province has bought a Fintec 1107 track mounted mobile crusher to recycle construction and demolition waste for road base material.
The municipality, which is home to the world famous ‘Terracotta Warriors', is responsible for the maintenance of 1000 km of roads, 1600 km of sewers and some 150 bridges and tunnels.
During the past three years, the city has seen the demolition of over 2.0 m2 million of buildings and structures, creating thousands of tonnes of construction and demolition waste comprising valuable concrete, stone, brick mortar and sand. "One of the biggest environmental challenges facing us is the recycling of construction and demolition waste," said deputy mayor Yang Guangxin.
This flood of potentially valuable waste materials is what prompted the city to purchase the Fintec crusher. It now plans to establish a company dedicated to the processing and reselling of construction and demolition waste to private building and construction companies, as well as the landscaping and road construction sector.
The operation will be geared towards the production of two or three key size fractions with a 40 mm product being the most popular for applications in road sub-bases. The municipality expects the machine to achieve an average production in the region of 400000 tonnes/year.
Mr Yang said, "It is important to introduce this mobile crushing concept to allow us to tackle demolition and recycling in our city. We should invest in five further machines for our other districts to allow us to make maximum use of these valuable materials."
