Sparrows Offshore has been appointed as sole agent in Norway for Stahl Crane Systems EX explosion protected overhead cranes and hoists.

The appointment follows a partnership that has seen Sparrows act as agent for Stahl in the UK North Sea for almost a decade, an agreement that has also been renewed. The Norway deal involves sales, service, inspection, repair and refurbishment.

Stahl Crane Systems is a leading manufacturer of wire rope and chain hoists for service in Zone 1 and 2 explosion hazard environments in the offshore exploration and production industries and the onshore refining and petrochemical sectors.

Typically, Stahl hoists are used on suspension and overhead travelling cranes, blow-out preventer (BOP) and pipedeck handling cranes, well-bay and FPSO turret-house hoists and deck-mounted davits. Load capacities range from 500 to 15,000 kg.

"The extension of our agreement to become exclusive agents for Stahl on and offshore in Norway is a strategic commitment by both companies to delivering excellent products supported by outstanding service." said Gordon McCombie, business development manager at Sparrows Offshore.

Stephen Young, managing director at Stahl Crane Systems in the UK, added, "Sparrows Offshore are the North Sea's most experienced lifting engineering specialist - the logical sales, installation and service partners for Stahl Crane Services. By delivering our products through Sparrows' engineering and support bases in Aberdeen, Stavanger and Great Yarmouth, Stahl aims to enhance both the depth and speed of our response to client needs."
