Surprises from UpRight and Skyjack

29 August 2008

Two of the bigger names in the aerial platform business, UpRight and Skyjack, are promising some interesting new machines at APEX, although are still keeping quiet about what exactly they will be.

UpRight, for example, will definitely have several new machines on its stand, including the TL34 trailer and a 33 ft bi-energy scissor lift. There are likely to be two other departures for UpRight, so don't be surprised to see one or two scissor lifts on non-conventional chassis. Of course, APEX is in the Netherlands - the ‘spiritual home' of tracked, self-propelled tracked platforms in Europe - so perhaps watch out for some crawler action.

This is the first APEX since UpRight's parent company, The Tanfield Group, completed the acquisition of Snorkel International, so this will also be the first APEX where UpRight can display a strong range of access platforms, with working heights from 4 to 40 m.

Skyjack, meanwhile, is being similarly close-lipped about several new models that it plans to launch at APEX.

The company says it "continues to develop new products with innovative features and is proud to launch two brand new machines at this year's show. Making their world debut will be the stylish SJ 12/16 Self Propelled Vertical Lift concept with a unique ‘slide out' platform, and the SJ46AJ Articulating Boom which offers an excellent working envelope, with class leading up-and-over and outreach capabilities, in addition to full 360° continuous rotation."

Also on the stand will be the SJ9241 scissor and the SJ66T telescopic booms, both launched earlier this year, as well as four other scissors from its product range.
