The J-1170 high performance mobile primary jaw crusher, built around the proven Terex 1.1 x 0.7 m (3.7 x.2.3 ft) jaw unit, will be one of the highlights on the Terex Finlay stand at ConExpo. This crusher provides excellent material reduction and product sizing when processing blasted quarry rock and ore material, says Terex Finlay. It is also available with optional hydraulic release, a feature of particular value when the machine is used to crush construction and demolition debris – it has an automatic overload protection system to prevent damage arising from uncrushable material in the feed stream.

Power comes from either a Tier 3/Stage IIIA Cat C9 diesel developing 261 kW (350 hp) or a Tier 4/Stage IIIB Scania DC9 70A developing 257 kW (345 hp).

The hydrostatic transmission of the jaw chamber provides reversible operation in the event of a blockage, as well as variable chamber speed to allow the crusher to be tailored for the application. It also features hydraulic assist Chamber Closed Side Setting (CSS) adjustment and can be changed in just a few minutes says Finlay. The J-1170 is fitted with a variable speed vibrating grizzly feeder with an integrated pre-screen that provides an aggressive action to separate fines material efficiently. This ensures continuous choke feeding of the crusher chamber for optimal productivity. Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stockpile via an on board by-pass conveyor, or join the crushed product on the main belt.
