Rammers new bronze replaceable bearing insert for its larger breakers

Rammer used the recent ConExpo show to unveil what it said are key enhancements to its Large Breaker models. The first of the these involves its patented lower tool bushings that now features a bronze replaceable bearing insert inside a re-useable body sleeve. The use of bronze helps to protect the tool surface from damage that in turn prevents fatigue fractures and tool snapping. It smooth surface also improves the dust seal capabilities for a longer working life. The bushing can be maintained by monitoring and replacing only the bearing insert when it becomes worn.

The second innovation was a new style of overflow protection valve – Ramvalve. This is available for all the hammers in the Large Range except the 7013. The valve monitors the oil flow through the hammer. If the this exceeds pre-defined setting, the valve activates and adjusts the flow to a very low level and the hammer impact rate drops significantly. It resets after the hammer re-starts with a correct oil flow.

Rammer also used the show to give its 5011 Large Hammer its official North American launch. Weighing in at 4,750 kg (10,470 lb), this hammer is suitable for use on carriers in the 43.80 tonne range.
