The World Crane and Transport Summit 2013 opened on 29 October to an international audience in Amsterdam, Netherlands. More than 250 industry professionals registered for the event at the Hotel Krasnapolsky in central Amsterdam.

It is the third time that the two day conference has been held. The first part of the programme set the scene with presentations on the world economy, its link to the construction industry and the implications for the crane and transport sector. Key issues facing the industry were presented both from an equipment end user and from a manufacturer perspective.

Another top theme of the day is the importance of global partnerships to achieve common requirements in lifting and transport. In respect of harmonising standards, the issues regarding the EN 13000 European standard governing rated capacity limiters continues to make progress.

Major input from Chinese manufacturers at the event provides insight into the world’s largest market and the ambitions of these companies domestically and globally.
