The SC&RA Annual Conference is one of the industry’s most anticipated events, even though this year it’s in the fall rather than the traditional April dates. From informative sessions to limitless networking opportunities in a beautiful, sun-drenched destination, attendees are sure to be both educated and entertained.

Following the successes of the Specialized Transportation Symposium in June and last month’s Crane & Rigging Workshop, it’s clear that SC&RA has mastered hosting a streamlined and safe event in a Covid environment. Slated for October 25-29 at the La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, the Annual Conference is sure to have something for everyone.

Recreation and relaxation

Calling all early risers! At 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26th start the conference on the right foot with the Lift & Move USA Fun Run/Walk sponsored by Buckner Companies. On Wednesday, get your game-face on for some friendly competition. The day’s line-up includes a golf tournament at one of the “Top 50 Golf Resorts in the U.S.” as ranked by Conde Nast Traveler, as well as a tennis tournament with a warm-up clinic followed by a round-robin style competition.

Engaging speakers

A shark attack survivor and Australian army paratrooper, Paul de Gelder will lead the Opening Session. In Improvise, Adapt & Overcome, de Gelder will use his journey of triumph and discovery to take attendees on an emotional roller coaster. He encourages a new level of emotional strength and determination.

The Educational Session: Social Responsibility & Community Goodwill Through Bikes is a hands-on session where participants will impact and touch the community by helping underserved children build a bike through U-Build-it-Bikes-for-Kids. Led by Duane Grischow, the session will encourage teambuilding and grow leadership abilities.

Wednesday morning will kick off with the Link-Belt Breakfast led by Scott Burrows. In Vision-Mindset-Grit: How to Stand Up to Any Challenge, Burrows uses his paralysis as a visual metaphor that encourages mental toughness, focus and the ability to master change.

In The Ultimate Networking Session: How to Use Food & Wine to Build Business Relationships, Eddie Osterland, America’s first Master Sommelier will demonstrate how to entertain with confidence and a sense of business acumen. Using old-world hospitality, Osterland will merge business and pleasure over the dinner table.

Thursday morning will commence with the Trail King Breakfast featuring award-winning six-string electric violinst and singer/songwriter Valerie Vigoda. Attendees will be entertained with Peak Aliveness: Transforming Fear into Flow as Vigoda inspires attendees to climb to higher peaks and encourages finding our truest, most fearless selves.

Committee meetings, SC&R Foundation barbecue, esteemed Job of the Year competition and the closing night awards dinner are also in store.
