Zeppelin Rental supports Winter Biathlon

06 February 2015

German rental company and Caterpillar dealer Zeppelin Rental has supplied modular prefabricated buildings and crowd barriers to support the Winter Biathlon sporting event in Oberhof.

Zeppelin was a logistics partner for the event, which took place from 6 to 11 January and was organised by WSRO-Skiing. Zeppelin supplied a two-storey modular building to serve as a team complex for the athletes, with a total of 80 rooms as well as heaters, power connections, external stairs and more.

In addition, it supplied a container for the Red Cross and mountain rescue office, as well as glass-fronted event containers. Trucks transported the individual units and accessories to the site, where each container was crane-lifted into place.

As well as the modular buildings, Zeppelin also supplied crowd barriers to the event, including timber hoardings and metal fencing, together with equipment including Caterpillar 924K, 906H2, and wheeled loaders - with and without snow blades - and forklift trucks.

Zeppelin also supplied at least three local staff to maintain a constant presence on site throughout the event.

WSRO-Skiing managing director Christopher Gellert said, “Especially in such a big event with live TV broadcasting, everything has to run like clockwork.

"Therefore, we are pleased and grateful that we can rely on the enormous commitment of our staff, volunteers, partners and service providers. In addition, the nearest rental location is just 7 km from the ski stadium.”
