A-Plant has ordered 100 VT-1 Eco lighting towers from TowerLight UK Ltd.

The VT-1 Eco, which is produced in Italy by TowerLight UK's Italian parent company, is similar to the VT-1 but equipped with sensors and stop/start devices that automatically switch the light on when it gets dark and off when it is light, saving fuel and labour on site.

Asif Latief, A-Plant's marketing and strategic accounts director, said, "These lights are undoubtedly environmental friendly, which will go a long way towards helping our clients to meet with their own green responsibilities, as well as simply saving money on labour and fuel costs."

A-Plant positioned a number of the new sets at the recent F1 race held at Silverstone, UK, providing illumination around the site and allowing race enthusiasts to move safely around the campsites during the night.

Paul Hay, TowerLight's international sales manager, said the VT-1 Eco was designed with environmental and costs savings on construction sites at the forefront; "The knock-on effect means that these benefits will also apply to outside event managers, whose clients are often eager to use environmentally sound equipment."

TowerLight claimed that the combined effect of reduced travel around the site and the light sensor system was a reduction in pollution of up to 30%.
