Italian access manufacturers and suppliers have agreed that their participation in the SAIE show will be limited to once every two years in the future, with access suppliers attending in even years (including 2010) alongside scaffold manufacturers.

Andrea Certo, chief executive officer of Oil&Steel and president of the aerial platform division of Italian association ANFIA, told AI that the aerial platform members - which include the Italian subsidiaries or representatives of JLG, Terex AWP and Haulotte - had agreed to exhibit every two years.

"We want to be synchronised with scaffolding producers, who are every two years. We feel that in the marketing mix, exhibitions have become less important. Exhibitions cost money to do properly. We feel that having it every two years we can add value to the show - it will be an event. We really feel that every two years will be enough."

Renzo Pagliero, managing director of Multitel Pagliero, confirmed that he had agreed to attend every two years, and said it did not make sense to exhibit at SAIE every year.

If the ANFIA decision is adhered to the first missed SAIE show would be in 2011, which is an APEX year.
