Rental company, AFI-Uplift has stepped in to help two Bovis Lend Lease managers take part in a gruelling three week drive across Europe and Asia to donate an ambulance and spare parts to Mongolian health services.

Bovis Lend Lease commercial manager Matt McCarrick and construction manager Scott Delaney's 10000 mile journey will take them across three deserts and five mountain ranges to deliver the ambulance. They also have a goal of raising £20000 for the MedEquip4kids charity.

AFI, which is the sole supplier of powered access equipment to Bovis Lend Lease's MediaCityUK project, is supporting Matt and Scott by being a main sponsor of the trip. AFI also used its delivery vehicles to transport the ambulance in the UK so that repair work could be carried out to enable it to pass its MOT.

Matt and Scott are taking part in the Mongolian Challenge as members of The Guvnors Club - an 80-year-old organisation of Bovis Lend Lease supervisors who raise funds for charity.

Their route took them from MediaCityUK to Goodwood Racecourse where they met up with other UK teams, and then across to the Czech Republic for the official start, continuing across Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Kzakhstan and finishing at Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

On the eve of departure, Matt said, "All our preparations over the last six months have now come to fruition and we are ready to go. We are delighted that AFI has not only provided financial support but also provided strong logistical support such as helping to ensure that the ambulance passed its MOT."
