Aggreko has expanded its Aggreko Process Services (APS) offering to power generation companies and chemical and other industrial processing companies following the success of the service in the oil refinery market.

Aggreko said that APS provides industrial plant managers with technical solutions to problems without the need to make large capital investments. Examples include temporary cooling equipment to overcome cooling bottlenecks during the summer; air movement systems to improve the performance of catalytic crackers in hot weather conditions; and temporary refrigeration to store ammonia at a fertilizer manufacturing plant.

Aggreko said the service provides a rapid return on investment (ROI), with process improvements achieved within an agreed period. It said that, based on over 300 projects already undertaken, "over 80% of projects achieve a payback ratio of 5:1, within weeks, not months."

Zaw Hein, business development manager, Aggreko APS Northern Europe, said: "Having developed this specialist service working with refineries in the USA and Europe, we think the time is right to broaden the range of our solutions to include other process industries that would also benefit from increased process efficiencies.

"While plant engineers are still facing huge downward pressures on capital expenditure budgets, we have shown how effective APS can be when it comes to improving processes. Managers should not think about bringing in our team as a cost, but as an investment to achieve significant, guaranteed process improvements over a period of weeks, not months. Following our initial scoping exercise, most projects are executed and concluded within just 16 weeks."
