Mast climbers are rapidly carving out a niche in chimney work, whether refurbishment or demolition. In this case, ASClimber is using its new XM H heavy duty products – developed by XL Developpement – to dismantle a chimney near Paris. The XM H gives contractors a number of options: 9 t of payload with chimneys with diameters of 2.0 m to 4.5 m, 8 t payload for 4.5–7.5 m diameters, and 6 t with 7.5–11.5 chimneys. Elevation speed is 12 m/min, the platforms are 2 m wide and the maximum working height is 250 m. The XM H system can also be configured as a passenger/materials hoist with 2–3 t capacity or a transport platform/material hoist with 4.5 t capacity (twin masts). ASClimber also distributes a light duty XM L version of the modular system.
