Italian lighting tower specialist TowerLight srl has developed a novel twin-mast lighting tower providing twice the illumination of its standard VT-1 product. Dubai rental company Al-Laith Scaffolding is one of the first rental companies to invest in the special towers, ordering six for its fleet.

Ray Caulfield, TowerLight's international sales manager, said; "This new unit has been designed around our standard VT-1 lighting set. However, we have combined two 9 m hydraulically operated lighting masts into one unit, providing twice the lighting output from one standard base." The company has named the unit the DB9, and the unit was co-developed with TowerLight's Middle East partners, Sigma EPD.

The tower is powered by a Kubota diesel engine, and both hydraulically operated masts have four 2000 W metal halide lamps at the top. The unit is housed in a super-silenced canopy and mounted on a four-wheeled tow trailer. The trailer has four extendable outriggers to maintain stability.

Al Laith already has a large fleet of VT-1 towers, but the new DB9s will be ideal for lighting concerts, outside events and car parks. The company is one of the largest scaffolding contractors in the United Arab Emirates, but also has a rental fleet of mast climbing work platforms, powered access equipment, construction equipment and equipment for events. It employs more than 1000 people.

TowerLight has been manufacturing lighting towers from its northern Italian base near Milan for 12 years. The company also produces contractors pumps, and is soon to add other products. It's UK and export sales are handled by Paul Hay and Ray Caulfield.
