ALE double bridge tower lift

07 September 2009

ALE Heavylift performed the uprighting of two steel towers on a new bridge over the Cuarto River in Córdoba, Argentina. The towers are 40 m tall and weigh 190 tonnes.

The company used an auxiliary steel gantry structure with three lifting units: two 200 tonne capacity models to lift the towers and one 70 tonne unit to hold them as the centre of gravity passed over the axis of rotation.

The gantry used was 24 m high, with a distance of 6 m between each leg. It was supplied with slewing capability at the base to allow simultaneous rotation as the towers were lifted.
