US manufacturer Allmand Bros has created a mobile light tower placement App to assist in determining the number and placement of portable light towers on a worksite.

The App, suitable for use on an iPad or iPhone and available free through the Apple App Store, is designed for those who need to illuminate large areas for construction, special events, mining, energy production or any other situation that requires large-scale portable lighting.

Users locate their site using a ZIP code, city or specific street address. Then, working on a satellite image, they define the boundaries of the site using the touch screen, before virtually setting up and aiming the portable light towers to determine the placement and quantity of towers required.

Although the App is developed by Allmand it can be used as the basis for setting up 1000 W or 1250 W metal halide light towers from almost any manufacturer.

Users can also use the App to contact the Allmand sales or rental team, or to access the Allmand site for further details on product specs and operator manuals.

The iPhone version of the app even includes a “hidden” flashlight mode on the initial screen to help light your way in the dark.
