AMECO, the equipment rental division of Fluor Corp, has established a permanent office in Peru three years after first entering the South American market. The business is a partnership with local partner Choice Cargo, a Peruvian transport and logistics company, and is being operated under the name Choice Equipos y Servicios, based in Lima.

Fluor said; "For the past 3 years, AMECO has supported 3 large projects in Peru. Given the projected growth in Peru over the next several years in various markets, AMECO made the decision to open a permanent office and transitioned the project based operation to offering full construction site services and operations fleet services."

The services offering include the provision of equipment, tools, parts, maintenance, repair, consumable and safety supplies and operator training.

Meanwhile, AMECO has recently made two senior appointments. Ken Branham joins as vice president of sales for North America and the Caribbean, and will also oversee AMECO's operations fleet services and corporate marketing. The operations fleet services business includes mobile equipment management for the power, metals, mining and chemicals industries.

A graduate of Arizona State University, Mr Branham was vice president of global sales & marketing for Trelleborg Engineered Systems before joining AMECO.

Also new to the company is Vincent Lo Cicero, who has joined AMECO to lead sales for Africa and the Middle East. Mr Lo Cicero has responsibility for business development activities in the oil and gas and infrastructure markets within the Middle East and Northern Africa.

He has relocated from Barcelona, Spain - where he was managing director of Linde - to Abu Dhabi, and brings 15 years of experience in general management and business development. He holds a bachelor's degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
