Another bolt-on deal for Sunbelt

09 February 2015

Expansive North American rental company Sunbelt has acquired northern Virginian, US-based rental company Theros Equipment Rentals – following a string of bolt-on deals in recent months.

Theros has locations in Fredericksburg, Sterling, New Baltimore and Springfield.

Kurt Kenkel, executive vice president of business development for Sunbelt, said, “The acquisition of Theros presents a unique opportunity for Sunbelt to broaden our service network in a very active market and brings with it an excited team of rental professionals eager to provide our combined customer base with expanded equipment availability, distribution and support.”

The company said former owner Joel Theros would remain with Sunbelt as regional operations manager.

The Theros deal comes after a flurry of acquisitions by Sunbelt - the US subsidiary of UK-based rental company Ashtead group, which also owns the A-Plant brand in the UK.

The most recent saw it expand into Canada at the end of last year with the acquisition of general tool business GWG Rentals for £16 million (€20 million), while last autumn it moved to acquire Ventura Rental Center, an equipment rental company based in Ventura, California, US, as well as the equipment rental division and employees of US-based ECM Energy Services.
