Joint venture company A Servidone Inc and B Anthony Construction Corp (ASIBACC) has used a Manitowoc model 11000-1 crawler crane and a Grove RT880E rough terrain crane to help rebuild an overpass in New York, USA.

The site for the new overpass and entrance ramp was on Route 84 in Middletown, New York. Tasks included moving barrier walls, driving piles and placing large sheets of structural steel for ground retention.

The 80 US ton (77 tonne) capacity RT880E has a 39 metre boom and the 110 ton (99 tonne) 11000-1 was configured with a 61 metre lattice boom. The 11000-1 was used for driving piles and placing steel sheets and large, precast, arched-box culverts.

Tim Altman, ASIBACC project engineer, said, “We chose the Grove RT880E and the Manitowoc 11000-1 because of the versatility of these two machines. With so much action going on at all times and the tight time limitations, these two cranes allowed us to complete the operations in a timely, efficient manner.”
