Australian tunnelling specialist, Bothar Boring & Tunnelling, has expanded its Middle East fleet with the addition of three all terrain cranes from Terex Cranes: a 500 tonne capacity Demag AC 500-8; a Demag AC 100-4L; and a TerexExplorer 5600.

Bothar Boring & Tunnelling has been operating in the Middle East since 2010 and has completed many high profile micro-tunnelling sewer and cable tunnel projects in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and the United Arab Emirates.

Having been awarded major contracts for micro-tunnelling jobs in Qatar, the company determined it needed to add additional units to its fleet of 15 cranes. According to Terex Cranes, in Bothar’s line of work, the compact size and asymmetric outrigger positioning of its cranes was key as Bothar has to work in areas where space is restricted.
