Turkish logistics and crane and transport service provider Aydin Vinc is using a Sennebogen 5500 crawler crane to help build the Izmit Bay Bridge in Turkey.

The bridge is being built over the Sea of Marmara and will be the fourth largest suspension bridge in the world, with six lanes for traffic and measuring 2,700 metres long.

Aydin Vinc is using the 180 tonne capacity crawler to lift the large sections of the bridge into place. For the task it was rigged with a 35.5 m main boom, wide-gauge undercarriage and a 160 kN winch. It is fitted with a Maxcab, which can be inclined by 20 degrees. Power comes from a 261 kW diesel engine.

The Sennebogen 5500 crawler was delivered by sales and service partner Forsen AŞ in Turkey.

The Izmit Bay Bridge is being built around 50 km southeast of Istanbul and is due for completion in 2017.
