Balfour Beatty Construction US wins schools contract

Balfour Beatty’s US operations has won a US$ 110 million contract to expand and renovate the Highland Park Independent School District (Highland Park ISD) in Texas, US.

The project will include the construction of four new elementary school within the district, while a fifth, existing school will be renovated.

The five-year project is already underway with Highland Park ISD's first new elementary school since 1948 currently under construction. The school will include a new 9,290m² campus.

Further plans include creating flexible learning spaces for students and teachers, outdoor classrooms, a learning garden and a one-story, 90-space underground parking garage.

The first school is scheduled for completion in summer 2017, with Balfour Beatty demolishing and constructing replacement campuses on three existing sites. Each school will take 13 months to complete.

The fifth school will undergo renovations, which will include a 733m² addition to the campus, as well as an expansion to its existing classrooms.
