Italian manufacturer Barin is preparing to deliver a new type of bridge inspection unit to Australia.

The AB 10.5 Combi will be delivered to Lincoln Hire in Darra, Queensland, next month. The unit will be used for the inspection of the railways network in Western Australia.

The machine is equipped for work on both railways and road, with the three-axle Scania truck also fitted with railway axles. The machine is suitable for running on 1.067 mm and 1.453 mm railway gauges and is fitted with a double set of railway wheels to accommodate this.

For road service, the vehicle has a maximum under bridge reach of 10.5 m and a maximum overhead reach of 14 m. For railway services the under bridge reach is the same, but the overreach is 13.3 m.

The AB 10.5 Combi is also fitted with a bucket that can be launched from the right or left side of the vehicle.
