Mr Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München, officially declares Bauma China 2016 open

Over the next four days, despite tough market conditions and a number of noticeable absentees, the show is likely to attract more than 150,000 visitors.

If the first morning of the show is anything to go by, that figure may well reach - or even surpass - the 190,000 visitor mark achieved at the last Bauma China in 2014.

At the official opening of the show, Mr Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München, spoke of the "challenging times" facing the Chinese market, but promised to "develop the Bauma China platform even further over the coming years."
