Taking place from 27 – 30 November in Shanghai, Bauma China will be the biggest construction equipment trade show in Asia this year, with 2,600 exhibitors taking part and many manufacturers unveiling new machines for global markets, as well as introducing models for the first time to China and the wider region.
Doosan’s stand will include several machines that are new to that market. Centre stage on the stand will be the company’s top of the range 70 tonne DX700LC crawler excavator. Also on show will be the DA40 articulated dump truck (DA40) – a first outing in China for this machine from the company’s portfolio.
Bauma China will also be a first outing for Doosan’s new generation DL550 wheeled loader, a range-topping machine with a 5.4 m3 bucket. A key is the Tier 2 12.7 litre Scania DC13 turbo-charged, air-to-air intercooled diesel engine, delivering ‘best in class’ power with a maximum output of 294 kW at 2100 RPM. The high engine power output is combined with new ZF transmissions and several other features that, as well as reducing fuel consumption, improve performance, durability, ease of handling and serviceability and operator comfort.
Equipment on show with Doosan’s compact equipment specialist, Bobcat, will include the company’s new generation T770 compact tracked loader and A770 all-wheel steer loader, which replace the T300/T320 and A300 models. The T770 has a capacity of 1611 kg, while the A770 is rated at 1550 kg, and both feature spacious new cabs with improved visibility.
Caterpillar’s stand will feature two new excavators alongside a new wheeled loader and rigid hauler. The smaller of the two excavators is the 12 tonne class 312D GC Series 2, which the company says was designed specifically for customers in China with its updated engine, updated front linkage and key changes to the hydraulic system.
Also on display will be the new 25.6 tonne 326D L excavator, which the company says combines an efficient hydraulic system with heavy-duty upper and lower structures for the power to work productively in demanding applications.
New to Caterpillar’s rigid dump truck offering in China is the 772G, with its distinctive centre-mounted cab. The truck has three body options designed to last the life of the truck and to meet hauling needs productively, safely and reliably. Also of interest to mine and quarry operators is the 986H wheeled loader, with its 42.5 tonne operating weight, which is designed as a match to either the 770G or 772G trucks.
Vögele, part of the Wirtgen Group will be using the show to unveil the Super 1800-2 HD paver, a machine developed specifically for the Chinese market. The company says it is an ideal machine for placing cold, coarse-grained material like cement-treated base (CTB) thanks to design features to combat the extra wear such materials cause.
The machine’s 15 tonne hopper has been designed to be lower (560 mm) and longer (2.42 m) than the Vögele’s standard Super-1800 to better accommodate Chinese trucks. The wear resistant conveyor is designed to handle non-bituminous materials, while the augers are also of a sturdy construction.
The paver has three operating modes, MIN, ECO and MAX. Vögele says ECO is suitable for 70% to 80% of all paving jobs, and can help cut fuel consumption and reduce wear. The machine also comes with Vögele’s Ergo Plus operating system
The Super 1800-2 HD comes with an SB 300 HD fixed-width screed as standard, which is designed to lay road bases true to line and level with the maximum possible degree of pre-compaction. This has a starting width of 3 m, which can be increased to 8 m with bolt-on extensions.
Other machines on show at the Group’s stand will include the W 100 H and W 130 H, 1 m milling machines from Wirtgen, built at the company’s factory in Langfang, again with local customer needs in mind. Features include a hydraulic travel and milling drum drive which delivers increased speed of travel and variable milling drum rotation speed.
Compaction equipment specialist Hamm will show three tandem rollers, the HD 128, HD O 128 V and HD 138, which the company says offer good handling, perfect overview, simple maintenance, extreme versatility and efficiency.
Wirtgen crushing & screening subsidiary Kleemann meanwhile will present the Mobiscreen MS 19 D, a robust triple-deck screen, again made in China. It processes feed material up to 150 mm in size and offers an output of up to 500 tonnes/hour. The company says it is well-suited to use with natural stone as well as recycling.
Ammann’s stand will feature its BlackMove II mobile wheeled asphalt plant, which is capable of outputs from 160 to 320 tonnes per hour. The company said its high mixing capacity and rapid deployment times makes it suitable for use on large construction sites, located away from major infrastructure centres. The complete mixing plant is installed on six semi-trailers, can be deployed with standard traction units and can be assembled rapidly with small capacity lifting gear.
The individual elements of the mixing plant are factory tested, while the assembly and commissioning of the plant on the site comprises simple connection of standard interfaces.
Also on show will be the ColdMix II, a 130 to 200 tonnes per hour continuous mixing plant for asphalt. The design refelects contractors’ needs for low transportation costs and fast set-up times, with a modular design that features simple foundations.
Fuwa will use Bauma China to launch the first models in a new crawler crane range from 55 to 285 tonnes capacity, which it plans to market worldwide.
According to Dutch-born Hemmo Luijerink, who Fuwa put in charge of the project, the seven-model FWX range will feature a modular design principle, which will help deliver advantages in quality, design speed, manufacturing efficiency, cost control and after sales service.
All of the new models other than the largest one are due to go on show at Bauma China. The models on show will comprise, the FWX55, a standard lift crane with a 210 tonne-metre load moment rating and a maximum main boom and fly jib combination is 40 + 18 m. The 75 tonne capacity FWX75 shares components with the FWX55, but offers a s 46 + 18 m main boom and fly jib combination. The FWX85 meanwhile offers 85 tonnes of capacity, full self-assembly capabilities and a maximum main boom and fly jib combination of 49 + 18 m.
Further up the range, the FWX135 replaces Fuwa’s QUY150. Capacity is 135 tonnes at 5 m radius and a luffing jib will be available giving a maximum combination length of 48.5 + 49 m. Similarly, the 180 tonne capacity FWX185 will come with the option of a luffing jib, offering a maximum combination length of 58.8 + 52 m.
The largest Fuwa crawler crane on show at Bauma China will the 225 tonne capacity FWX225, which supersedes the QUY250. A luffing jib will be available, giving a maximum combination length of 58.8 + 70 m.
Among the equipment for heavy civil engineering projects being presented and demonstrated by Trimble will be a range of machine control systems for excavators, dozers, graders, compactors, milling machines and pavers. Trimble says its Grade Control Systems enables contractors to increase efficiency in earthmoving and decrease costs by working faster, with more accuracy and reduced rework. Similarly, its paving solutions help contractors build new roads and resurface existing roads by minimising the amount of expensive asphalt and eliminating road waves for a smoother surface.
Trimble will feature its new Flex family of machine control solutions. The GCSFlex for excavators and CCSFlex for soil and asphalt compactors are easy-to-install, easy-to-learn and easy-to-use, according to the company. They are designed to offer small to mid-sized contractors a reliable, flexible and affordable machine control system.
The company will also show its portfolio of Site Positioning Systems for the construction surveyor, supervisor, grade checker and other personnel on the job site. They can be used to perform surveys, grade checking, volume measurements and as-built surveys.
Perkins will mark Bauma China with the launch of its first electronically controlled Tier 3 / Stage IIIA compliant engine in the Chinese market. The 1106D-E70TA engine will make its debut at the show and its arrival marks a significant moment for Perkins 1100 Series facility in Wuxi, China, which has taken sole responsibility for its design, engineering and manufacture.
The 7 litre, 6-cylinder model features high pressure common rail fuel injection, has a single stage turbo charger and is air-to-air charge cooled. It is capable of producing up to 205 kW and shares a common platform with its six cylinder mechanical
