bC India exhibition opens in Mumbai

The bC India exhibition has opened at the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority’s Bandra Kurla Complex. Some 710 exhibitors are taking part in this year’s show, compared to 508 at the inaugural event in 2011, and exhibition space has increased to 120,000 m2, compared to 88,000 at the last show.

Visitor numbers are also expected to exceed the 24,823 that attended the 2011 event. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thomas Loeffler, CEO of organiser bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd said, “We have +70% more visitors pre-registered online than in 2011.”

The exhibition is a joint-venture between Messe Muenchen International, the organiser of the Bauma and Bauma China exhibitions, and the US-based Association of equipment Manufacturers (AEM), which is responsible for the ConExpo-Con/Agg show in Las Vegas, US.

The event was opened by B. Seenaiah, president of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), the partner trade association of bC India, Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of MMI, Megan Tanel, AEM vice president for exhibitions, Michael Siebert, counsel general of the German Consulate in Mumbai and Mr Loeffler.

According to Mr Loeffler, the show has exhibitors from 33 countries, and about 65% of exhibitors are headquartered outside Germany. In addition to the general exhibition space, there are nine national pavilions from China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Spain and the UK.
