Bilbao dates for EDA

The Northern Spanish city of Bilbao, and more specifically the Gran Hotel Domine, will be the venue for the EDA's summer conference on 7–10 June 2007. As normal for Association events, this is a Thursday–Sunday event, with a full social programme, as well as formal presentations and meetings.

The conference will open with a cocktail welcome on the terrace of the Hotel in the early evening of the Thursday. Friday morning will see the commencement of the formal programme, with a general meeting of the EDA setting the ball rolling. This will be followed by presentations by Pilar de la Cruz (controlled explosive demolition of chimneys) and Mr Takala from the European Agency for safety and Health at Work. A look at the proposed new EDA website will then be made, and a further discussion on the use of high reach demolition machines, following on from the presentation of the NFDC's Guide to the use of such equipment at the previous EDA conference in Zaragoza. Lunch will be followed by the development of working groups looking at EU lobbying issues. The evening will see an informal event at the Cider House.

Saturday morning will see a visit to a construction site in San Sebastian, sponsored by Alex Import. With the end of the formal element of the event, lunch (sponsored by Alex Import) will be followed by a chance to visit the sights of San Sebastian, and a Gala Dinner (black tie) will follow in the evening at the Restaurant Etxanobe–one of the top venues in Bilbao.

As usual, there will be full Ladies Programme running parallel with the conference's formal events as well as a social programme on the Sunday for those staying on in Bilbao.
