Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is behind the purchase of a 6% stake in Spanish contractor FCC.

The deal, said to be worth €114 million, makes the Bill Gates fund the second largest shareholder in the company after heiress and philanthropist Esther Koplowitz.

FCC, which was badly affected by Spain’s property slump, is currently undergoing a corporate revamp and divestment of €2 billion worth of assets under its new CEO Juan Bejar.
