BMS orders new Palfinger truck mounts

European rental firm BMS has become the first company to purchase the new 73 m Palfinger truck mount, and already has orders in for the new 103 m platform, when Palfinger launches it in 2015.

“We are expanding our business throughout Europe. With the significant investment we have made in large mobile platforms, we are constantly on the cutting edge of development. We can be out with our customers all over Europe in no time, and can offer them the latest and best equipment for their projects involving working at height,” said Ib Steffensen, director of BMS’s platform department.

Over the past year, BMS has invested heavily in large platforms, which are used by the energy, telecommunications and construction sectors, among others, throughout Europe.

The firm’s recent spend has included Palfinger’s 55 m mountain security platforms, which have a large outreach and are equipped with a 3 m diamond drill. The new platforms are mounted on custom-built trucks, weigh around 30 tonnes and are approved for the roads of Europe.

The new mountain security platforms have a specially built basket, designed for work with hydraulically operated drilling equipment. The capacity of the basket is 600 kg, and it has heating in both the floor and the control console. The working height is 55 m, and the outreach of 40 m+ is reportedly the biggest on the market within this segment.
