Bobcat has introduced the new 15H and 30H augers, which like the current range of 10, 15C and 30C models, can be mounted on the company's compact loaders, excavators and telehandlers.

Unlike the existing 15C and 30C models which have a combination output shaft accepting both round and hexagonal auger bits, the new 15H and 30H augers come with a hexagonal output shaft only.

Bobcat said the advantage of this is an increase in robustness that makes the augers ideal for heavy-duty applications.

The 15H and 30H augers accept all the Bobcat Heavy Duty auger bits as well as the company's Rock auger bits, both types of bits having a hexagonal mounting system.

All current mounting frames and adapters, including quick coupler adapters for the 15C and 30C augers are fully compatible with the 15H and 30H models. In addition, all current extensions for the auger bits on the 15C and 30C models, both extendable and fixed, are also compatible with the new augers.

A spokesman for Bobcat said the enclosed direct drive system on the augers offers improved performance over the exposed chain/sprocket drive used on other designs.

The smaller drive housing on the augers allows the entire drive unit to follow the bit into the hole when using the 305 mm bit or larger, thus adding about 600 mm more dig depth than standard drive units.

The company said the more efficient design and modified displacement of the augers increases torque.
