Bobcat’s new E60 crawler excavator is able to work in narrow spaces due to its zero tail swing design and boom swing function.

Bobcat has launched the 6 tonne E60 crawler excavator. Offering low noise and emission levels it is suitable for operation in noise sensitive areas and at night.

The E60 is powered by a 37,6 kW Yanmar liquid-cooled diesel engine running at a maximum speed of 2200 rpm. Electronic injection and automatic idle ensure optimum fuel efficiency at all times, according to the company.

The machine's zero tail swing design and boom swing function allows the E60 to work in narrow spaces. The dipperstick cylinder is sized to provide enhanced excavating force and a long dipperstick option is also available. The swing bracket and the size of the boom swing cylinder ensure powerful and stable boom swing performance, Bobcat said.

The E60's cab is similar to that found on standard size excavators and the cab's large entrance ensures the operator can easily access and exit the machine. The interior of the cab has been ergonomically designed to optimise operator comfort and there is a wide field of view and "excellent" all around visibility.

The position and angle of the seat cushion, as well as the position of the consoles, can be adjusted independently of each other. Additional comfort is provided by the adjustable seat back and the lumbar support.

The controls of the E60 have been arranged to ensure convenience and maximum operating efficiency. The hydraulic joystick levers have comfortable grips that allow the operator to perform smooth, precise operations.

Standard equipment includes a boom safety valve and overload warning device. The instrument panel provides comprehensive information about the status of the machine in an easy-to-read format.

The cab offers a low noise level of 75 dBA. A high capacity heating and air conditioning system is also standard, with fully adjustable vents installed at both the front and rear of the operator's seat to maximise efficiency. Other features include an electric refuelling pump and a defroster for the windshield.

With an operating weight of just over 6 tonnes in its standard configuration, the E60 has 39,9 kN digging force over the bucket and 26 kN digging force over the dipperstick. The machine has a 3,7 m maximum digging depth, a 3,9 m maximum dump height and a 6 m maximum reach at ground level.

According to Bobcat the advanced technology used in the E60 allows simple and easy maintenance procedures. Convenient check points make it easy to carry out routine maintenance, while a tilting cab facilitates service work.

A large air cleaner removes more than 99% of airborne particles, reducing the risk of engine contamination and lengthening the intervals for cleaning and cartridge change. Integrated grease piping is designed for easy maintenance of the swing bearing and swing cylinder.
