Leigh Ainsworth is to retire after six years as CEO of Australian rental company Coates Hire, effective 31 December.

Mr Ainsworth was appointed CEO in November 2008 with the intention of a five-year tenure, which was extended by 12 months.

Coates Hire chairman Don Voelte said, “During his time, Leigh has shown exceptional leadership strength managing the business through arguably one of the most turbulent economic periods seen in recent decades.

“Leigh successfully led the formation of the rebranded and corporatised Coates Hire that was awarded Australian Rental Company of the year in 2012.

“Most importantly, his uncompromising approach to safety has made our workplace safer for all of our staff and contractors. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Leigh for his very significant contribution and wish him well in his retirement.”

Mr Voelte said the company had started its search for a replacement. “We are in the advanced stages of this search and hope to make an announcement of a new CEO in the coming months,” he added.
