Concrete show for Italy

27 October 2016

A new concrete-focused event in Italy has signed up more than 120 exhibitor companies, the organisers claim, and a programme of conferences and workshops is planned.

The first edition of GIC-Italian Concrete Days will be held in Piacenza, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, from 10 to 12 November, 2016.

Dr Fabio Potestà, GIC organiser, said, “We are driven by the aim of providing a perfect organisation of the event, where several hundred visitors have already pre-registered on the website www.gic-expo.it – a fact which is quite unusual in Italy, especially for an event in its first edition. "

He said special thanks were due to the Ministry of Economic Development, and to the more than 30 Italian Trade Associations that have given their support to GIC.

“In this regard,” said Potestà, “it should be underlined that many of the GIC partner associations are companies who need structures, surfaces and concrete elements for conducting their activities.”

Some of the programme of conferences and workshops held alongside GIC has been organised in co-operation with associations and media partners supporting or sponsoring the event. Potestà said that controlled demolition, for example, would be the subject of a specific conference.

A special gala dinner is being held on 11 November, during which
the ICTA-Italian Concrete Technology Awards will be given out.

Potestà said that the recent difficult situation in the domestic market and perhaps the absence in Italy of a dedicated concrete event, had forced many Italian companies to invest huge sums of money to exhibit at trade fairs outside the national borders.

“For the amount of manufacturers and distributors of machines, equipment, chemical products, and also concrete elements, Italy deserves a dedicated trade show,” he said.
