In our online article of 16 March titled ‘Barford dumpers owner Wordsworth enters administration' we incorrectly stated that one of the Wordsworth divisions affected was chipper manufacturer Landforce.

We are happy to clarify that Wordsworth sold the Landforce business to Hardmet Ltd in May 2009 - well before Wordsworth entered administration - and that Hardmet Landforce is now successfully manufacturing and selling the Landforce range of chippers and shredders from its base in Evesham, Worcestershire, UK.

David Trickett, owner of Hardmet Landforce, told IRN that since buying Landforce last year he has had a great response from customers. He said Landforce had exhibited at several forestry and landscaping shows since the acquisition and will be attending Saltex again in September this year.

The company's products comprise three chipper models in 150 mm (6 in), 200 mm (8 in) and 235 mm (9.25 in) sizes, plus three ‘Duo' combined chipper/shreader models with the same three chipper sizes and 420 mm (16.5 in) wide shreader inlets.

In addition, Landforce produces a materials recycling unit with a 100 mm by 600 mm loading hopper that can shred materials from construction sites as well as smaller building sites, including plywood, chipboard, timber, fencing and pallet wood. It can also process waste plastics such as window frames, old guttering and cladding.

Landforce is a sister company to Hardmet Associates, a business that specialises in the design and manufacturing of components using ultra hard materials such as tungsten carbide and ceramics. Its components are used for applications in quarrying or security products where materials need to be resistant to wear or abrasion.
