Datatag launches online machine history service

Datatag unveiled a new on-line machine history check for agricultural and construction vehicles at an industry gathering at the end of October 2013.

The new Datatag service provides an instant on-screen report about a machine’s history using databases from HPI, CESAR, the DVLA and the police. Users simply need to enter a machine’s 17-character VIN number, registration plate or unique CESAR mark to start a history check on-line.

The new service has been developed in conjunction with HPI, which runs a similar online history check service for the automotive sector in the UK.

Datatag is the company that runs the UK's CESAR scheme, which provides secure identification markets on machines to deter theft and to make it easier to recover stolen plant.

The new service was launched to the press, the insurance and asset finance industry and prospective business users at JCB’s world headquarters at Rocester, Staffordshire.

Kevin Howells, managing director, Datatag ID Limited said, “JCB was the venue for the launch of CESAR in 2007 and for the production of the 100000th CESAR registered machine just over a year ago.
