Digital display

Doosan's latest Tier 4 Interim compressor, the XP825 features an all new digital control system and instrument panel with a host of new features. The Doosan Control System is built around a touch-screen tablet computer, which normally shows the compressors basic operating parameters via an easy-to-read display.

However, there is much more to this than meets the eye. The computer also contains manuals, maintenance schedules and a recommended spare parts list. In addition, it plays a big role in preventative maintenance and servicing, with information like the machine status, fault codes, and even the fault code history being available with a few taps of the screen.

An on-board WiFi connection means all this data can be streamed to a smart phone, laptop or another tablet computer.

The digital display panel is a standard feature of the Tier 4 Interim compressors, and as Doosan's Russ Warner explained, the Doosan Control System has not added cost.
"It's not a cost premium to have this technology, versus analogue gauges and the older technology. We're using off-the-shelf, high-volume technology. The WiFi radios and digital displays are used in large quantities by other manufacturers and we can leverage that volume.

"So even if a user doesn't want to use that technology, it's not necessarily cheaper to go without it. In any case, all our equipment is designed to run separate from that technology, so if it is vandalised or damaged in some way, the machine will still function and make air. The technology is not mission-critical and there's no potential for the technology to create downtime," he said.
