Dockwise secures $275 million contract

Dockwise, a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster (Boskalis), has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Bechtel for module transport services on the Wheatstone Project in Western Australia.
The contract is estimated at US$275 million and is the largest ever secured by Dockwise.
The Wheatstone Project, which is operated by Chevron, is one of Australia's largest resource projects. It is at Ashburton North, 12 km west of Onslow in Western Australia. There will be two LNG trains (a liquefaction and purification facility) with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes a year. It will also have a domestic gas plant, a spokesperson added.
Work for Dockside will include transporting modules for the Wheatstone Project site from China and Malaysia. In total, six Dockwise heavy marine transport Vessels (HTVs), for on-deck stowage, and two new Smit Giant barges will be used at the project, along with anchor handling tugs (AHTs) and a number of barges and floating super pallets (FSP), a company spokesperson said.
Work is scheduled to start in early 2014.
