Doosan excavator fitted with on-board dust suppression

United Kingdom-based demolition and groundworks specialist I&R Demolition has invested in an on-board dust suppression system for its new Doosan DX255 excavator.
Based in Preston in the north of England, the company added the Dynaset HPW-Dust pump installation. It comprises a self-contained 350-litre tank mounted on a frame and a pump system that can be “fit neatly behind the cab of the machine”.
Design features include a piston-to-piston pump that converts hydraulic power into high pressure water. This is then pumped to the dust suppression nozzles, which produced an atomized water mist.
Using high pressure for “optimal water consumption”, the HPW is said to use less water usage and offer better dust suppression performances with a smaller water drop size than traditional low pressure dust suppression systems.
Ryan Tomlinson, director at I&R Demolition, said: “After researching various methods for on site dust suppression, the on-board setup offered significant benefits and cost savings compared to other traditional dust suppression systems, such as expensive mobile/trailer based units or hosepipes, which trail inconveniently across site and are subject to regular damage.”
The 350-litre tank and pump system “fit neatly behind the cab of the machine”.
The system, which was supplied and installed by hydraulic attachment specialist ECY Haulmark, has been installed to the base of the 25 t Doosan excavator with its water hoses connected to the machine’s attachment head.
Ryan said: “The tank on the Doosan DX255 can hold 350 litres of water and typically requires refilling every three or four days when the machine is active all day. A fine mist can be atomised on demand from the touch of a button in the cab, so water is only being used when required at the exact point of demolition activity.”
“Also the on board system eliminates any need for hoses running across the site to a mains water supply,” he added.
