South Korean company Doosan Bobcat will be transferring its heavy industrial subsidiary Doosan Heavy business to its infrastructure support business Doosan Infracore, to try to strengthen its position in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

In the past, Doosan Bobcat EMEA has integrated the sales and distribution businesses of its compact and heavy construction equipment under a single umbrella in order to maximise synergy effects across both businesses. Doosan said this has had the effect of improving Doosan Bobcat EMEA’s standing within the region.

It is believed the planned business transfer will further expand Doosan Bobcat EMEA’s market presence in the region, with a focus on compact equipment.

In addition, the transfer is intended to enable Doosan Infracore to enhance the core competencies of Doosan Heavy by leveraging its functional expertise and taking full responsibility for the entire value chain, from sales and product development to production, under a single global leadership.

Alvaro Pacini, president of Doosan Bobcat EMEA, said, “This organisational change clearly demonstrates our commitment to the long-term success of our company, as well as our valued partners.”

The transfer is due to take effect on 1 January, 2018.
